John Frawley, The Horary Textbook, Chap. 3, The Houses, p. 18 and 22:
"2nd house
[...] It is the querent's money, in whatever form that takes: [...]. It is the querent's self-esteem, self-valuing, and also esteem for the partner: esteem or value, seen as a transferable thing.
It is your closest advisors, [...]. In a duel it is your second; in court it is your lawyer and the witness who testify on your behalf.
8th house
As the second shows the querent's self-esteem, the 8th shows the partner's esteem, seen here almost as a separate entity. If a querent in a relationship question is clearly interested in Lord 8 (the planet ruling the 8th house), this often shows a craving for the other person's esteem rather than a craving for the other person's money."
